Harlan Cherniak
Harlan Cherniak has 17 years of professional experience in the investment industry. He is currently a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Americas Special Situations Credit business at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. (KKR), a leading global investment firm with over $168 billion in AUM that manages multiple alternative asset classes, including private equity, energy, infrastructure, real estate, credit and, through its strategic manager partnerships, hedge funds.
Prior to joining KKR, Harlan was a senior investment professional at Venor Capital Management, an event-driven, credit opportunities fund. At Venor, he was actively engaged in the oversight of investments across the capital structure with a focus on the building materials, energy, financial, healthcare, power and utilities industries. Harlan previously worked at Longacre Fund Management, JLL Partners and Credit Suisse.
Harlan holds a B.S. degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and serves on the Class of 2001 Gift Committee.
Harlan has been actively involved with Youth Renewal Fund (YRF) for over fifteen years. He is responsible for the development of the Ambassador Circle (YRF’s community of young professionals), which has grown exponentially in the past seven years, currently with over 50 active members who fundraise over $200,000 annually for the organization. Harlan is currently an integral member of the Board of Directors both in the U.S. and Israel. As an Executive Committee member, Harlan works closely with the Board of Directors, our CEO Dr. Gil Pereg, executive management and our global funding partners.
Harlan has been married for nine years to his wife Dr. Tracy Kisner, a prominent psychologist with a focus on cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy in New York City. Harlan and Tracy reside in Manhattan with their two children Lucas and Stella.
