Darca’s pedagogical experts are constantly staying ahead of the curve when it comes to the best ways to educate students. One of Darca’s core principles is that every child deserves the right to an incredible education and this is inclusive of students across the spectrum of learning abilities, specifically ADHD.

Darca’s staff came to the realization that many students with ADHD struggle while maintaining a normal academic structure. However, they do not require a completely separate learning environment. Enter Darca’s ADHD classroom designed specifically for students to have a supplemental place to learn and work on their studies that caters specifically to their needs.

The room was developed and designed based on extensive research into what students with ADHD would benefit from in an academic environment. The walls are inviting but simple, eliminating distraction from the task at hand. The seats on the chairs are bouncy balls – allowing students to not feel constrained to a standard school chair.

As is standard with Darca’s innovations and achievements, the classroom has proved to result in exceptional success and there’s no better way to know that than from a Darca teacher…

Early this year, I brought a group of students into the ADHD room. I explained to them the rules of behavior in the room. The group includes students with learning disabilities and some with ADHD.  As a teacher, I witnessed how much the ADHD classroom enables the students to improve their continuous attention span. Bouncing on the balls gives them needed movement to help them concentrate. The student who was diagnosed with autism initially had difficulty sitting on the ball but eventually, I noticed that the room and its different components help him to collect his energy and allow him to sit for longer periods of time with focus and concentration.
